Comments By Tom Meador (Benjamin)
I have had the pleasure of being a part of this production each of the four times it has been presented, and yet I am still moved to tears when I hear the song "Behold the Man". The thought of what it must have been like to actually witness our Lord hanging on that cross! I play the part of a fictional ex-pharisee named Benjamin, relating the story of how his life was radically changed by a carpenter's son from Nazareth. It parallels the life of the Pharisee Nicodemus, who, like Benjamin, was intrigued by Jesus but chose to follow Him from a distance....at first. Benjamin later commits himself whole-heartedly to Jesus but must pay a heavy price. But, like many of us, he finds himself much happier than he has ever been before.
I urge you to come see "The Victor" but not for the wonderful music or costumes. Let it rekindle, or ignite for the first time, the fire in your heart. Feel the overwhelming depth of the love God has for each of us.
